El Paso has a violent recent history, as you will learn if you choose to follow the Earth Science path of this program. The Potrillo Volcanic Field, just west of downtown El Paso, has more than 200 volcanoes, all fairly recent, geologically speaking. Earthquakes, although uncommon, shake our area from time to time.
