• Scientific Name: Condalia warnockii (con-DAIL-lee-uh war-NOK-ee-eye)
• Family: Rhamnaceae (Buckthorn Family)
• Geographic Range: Southeastern Arizona to Trans-Pecos Texas and south into Mexico.
• Plant Form: Dense, evergreen shrub; branches ending in sharp points.
• Remarks: Dense growth and throny nature make it a good wildlife shelter. The fruit is edible.
