- Geographic Range: Widespread across southwest mountains from California and
Idaho to New Mexico, western Texas; Baja California to Chihuahua, Mexico
- Plant Form: Deciduous shrub, 3' X 3'.
- Remarks: A small mounding shrub with many stems, lined and terminated by
many clusters of small straw colored heads of disk flowers sometimes tinged with purple. The thin,
aromatic leaves are triangular to broadly ovate and roundly toothed. Seldom used for
landscaping but naturally grows in rocky soils, in full sun to part shade, with low to medium
moisture and is very cold tolerant.
