- Common Spanish Names: Palmilla, Palmita, Izote azul
- Scientific Name: Yucca rigida (YUK-kuh RIJ-ih-duh)
- Family: Asparagaceae (formerly Agavaceae) (Asparagus Family)
- Geographic Range: Southeastern Chihuahua and adjacent Coahuila, south into
Durango and Zacatecas, Mexico.
- Description: Stout, single trunks (5 to 15') sometimes branching with age,
with numerous, short, radiating linear-lanceolate, distinctly blue-gray glaucous leaf blades
radiating into a dense terminal crown.
- Landscape Usage: This bluish-bladed Mexican yucca makes a striking accent in
the landscape. Seed-grown plants are commercially available.
