• Scientific Name: Solanum rostratum (sow-LAN-um ross-STRAY-tum)
• Family: Solanaceae (Nightshade Family)
• Geographic Range: Central Mexico to Canada. Originally primarily Great Plains, but widely spread now throughout western and central United States.
• Plant Form: Annual.
• Remarks: Generally considered a noxious, invasive weed with spiny stems, bright yellow flowers.
