- Geographic Range: Extending in western Texas into the Trans-Pecos Texas in Pecos County on Sierra Madera and in Brewster County on the Glass Mountains, the Del Norte
Mountains, and in Big Bend National Park. The center of distribution is in northern and central Coahuila, but its range extends marginally into eastern Chihuahua and western Nuevo
León.
- Plant Form: Evergreen tree, 25' in height.
- Remarks: Extend into lower elevations than the other piñes. The name comes from the extremely thin shell of the fruit.
