- Description: Perennial herb, erect to ascending, leaves linear to linear-lanceolate, opposite, ascending at 45 degrees or greater from stem; flowers bright red to purplish red, 1 to 3 emerging from small, green involucres, not significantly enlarging in fruit. Commonly displaying mostly cleistogamous flowers.
