- Geographic Range: Lower Rio Grande through Trans-Pecos Texas to southeastern Arizona, south into northern Mexico.
- Plant Form: Shrub up to 10' or rarely higher.
- Remarks: Spiny shrub, usually leafless. Photosynthesis primarily by green stems.
