The Red Fox perhaps should not be considered a member of the Chihuahuan Desert fauna, being geographically marginal and rare at best. Records of occurrence for the region are in the Organ and San Andres mountains and for Point of Sands in the Tularosa Basin, all in south-central New Mexico.
